Growing up in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Glenda MacInnis found her passion for performing through figure skating. When she stopped skating, it felt like a piece of her was missing, and she was always in search of how to fill that void. Years later, she discovered that acting provided that same rush as gliding across the ice.
“It was tremendously scary stepping outside my comfort zone, but I continued to have this nagging feeling that it was something I was supposed to do, or at least try, and so I took the leap,” she said. “I’ve always loved film and television. I would watch endless amounts of TV and movies growing up with my family and by myself. It always seemed like an impossible dream to be able to work in the industry, but I would watch movies on loop and just imagine what it would be like to be in them.”
Now, MacInnis is an internationally sought-after actor, living that dream she had as a child in Atlantic Canada. She has worked alongside some of the industry’s icons, such as Golden Globe nominee Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter, The Patriot, Hook) in his new television series Good Sam, also starring Sophia Bush (One Tree Hill, Chicago P.D., Law & Order: SVU). She has been a part of many acclaimed productions, including Suits, Designated Survivor, and American Gods, to name a few, and has more coming that audiences can look forward to, like the Apple TV+ original series Five Days at Memorial (created by John Ridley and Carlton Cuse) as well as Tanya Kennedy in the TV movie How to Find Forever.
How to Find Forever is currently Reel One Entertainment’s movie of the week. The movie follows Marley, who is brilliant at organizing other people’s engagements, but unlucky in finding romance herself. When designing her most important proposal yet, the man who could jeopardize it all may be the one who helps find her own love story.
“I love a good romance movie, and this one was so sweet! I have always wanted to be a part of a type of movie that I would sit down on the couch with my girlfriends and watch. I think in a world where there can be so much heaviness, it’s important to have movies that let us escape from reality for a little while. Romance movies bring so much joy and lightness that we could all use every once in a while,” said MacInnis.
In the film, MacInnis plays Tayna Kennedy, Marley’s younger sister and one of her best friends in the world. Supportive, kind, encouraging, caring, spirited, sharp and upbeat, Tanya believes in her sister and knows that when she sets her mind to something, she can get anything accomplished. She helps Marley orchestrate the wedding proposal event for their friend. MacInnis loved the idea of being such an integral part of this sweet story.
“I loved preparing for this role, Tanya really cares so much about her sister and friend, and I thought if there was anything that I could relate to, it was that. I have a really great group of girlfriends, so it wasn’t a big stretch of the imagination for me to understand where she was coming from,” MacInnis described.
MacInnis’ character helps orchestrate a very important proposal that happens during the movie. She is one of the pieces of the puzzle to help Marley organize a big surprise for their best friend. Tanya is also the catalyst in helping nudge her big sister into the direction of love herself.
“Working with the cast and crew on this production was so much fun and was really something special. It felt like my co-stars and I were just old friends hanging out and catching up. The dynamic between us girls was so natural and made it really easy to work. I was able to show up prepared with what we were shooting that day, feeling relaxed and ready to have so much fun with it, so I felt very lucky. Plus, we shot in some beautiful locations, which didn’t hurt,” she added.
How to Find Forever will be released soon. Stay tuned for updates on Reel One Entertainments Instagram page for updates.
