Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment is an increasingly popular method of hair restoration. It is often performed over the course of a number of sessions, with the specific amount of sessions required varies depending on the patient’s hairline and their desired results. In PRP treatment, a small amount of blood is extracted from the patient. This blood is then separated into three sections, one of which is concentrated platelet-rich plasma. The platelet-rich plasma is then injected back into the patient’s scalp, encouraging hair growth in the area of insertion. There are some people who are very much against PRP therapy. They insist that it is tedious, uncomfortable, and, worst of all, ineffective. We respectfully disagree. We believe that PRP treatment can indeed be successful when performed by an experienced professional. As such, we have put together this short list of why you should consider platelet-rich plasma treatment over alternative methods of hair restoration, such as FUE or FUT.
It’s Affordable
When somebody goes with PRP therapy over a more popular method of hair transplantation, it is often because they are on a budget. It makes sense. After all, the typical PRP session will set you back no more than $500. You can expect to pay even less if you travel to Turkey for treatment. In Turkey’ hair restoration clinics, PRP treatment – and most other procedures, for that matter – can be secured for almost half the price you’d pay in a Western clinic. For those considering the PRP route, this low price tag acts as something of an insurance policy. Even if the treatment ultimately proves unsuccessful (which is very unlikely), they will have saved enough money to undergo follicular unit extraction or follicular unit transplantation before they leave Turkey. There are many articles about visiting Turkey for a hair transplant available, but this is one of our favorites. If you’re considering making the journey, be sure to check it out.
It’s Quick
Because PRP therapy is most effective when administered over several sessions, you can expect to spend weeks, if not months, undergoing treatment. However, each individual session is pretty quick and requires virtually no recovery time at all. This gives it a distinct advantage over the likes of FUT or FUE. Although both of the aforementioned procedures are effective, they can be quite time-consuming. If you don’t have a few weeks that you can dedicate to convalescence, PRP is the way to go.
It’s Risk-Free
When you undergo FUE or FUT or any other form of hair transplant which requires surgery, you run a number of risks. Although such procedures generally result in success stories, there are a number of things which could go wrong. Most commonly, patients react negatively to the surgery and leave their chosen clinic with their scalp irritated by the materials in the blades used. In PRP treatment, this is not an issue. PRP utilizes injections, so you won’t have to worry about surgery and the possible complications which accompany it. Meanwhile, the use of the patient’s own blood means their body is remarkably unlikely to have any sort of negative reaction to the injections.
It’s Innovative
Platelet-rich plasma treatment has been used to treat sports injuries and joint pain for a while now. However, it’s still something of a newcomer to the hair transplant industry. This makes it a pretty adventurous method of restoring one’s hairline. If you want to be on the forefront of hair transplant innovation and help the industry further expand, you should seriously consider PRP therapy.
