Moscow Vice Mayor Efimov has announced the project of ten cableways

Vladimir Efimov, Deputy Mayor in the Government of Moscow on economic policy and property and land relations, declared that the city authorities are already looking for investors for a large-scale project of the cableways deployment.

Moscow Government, in the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2019, presented a project for the deployment of ten cableways, which are planned to be built on the basis of a concession agreement. All roads are planned to be constructed with the purpose of integration with the metro stations and other urban transport systems.

Deputy Mayor of the capital of Russia on economic policy and property and land relations Vladimir Efimov has said the following: “We are working on options for placing cableways in Moscow’s districts, where their deployment can help to solve the city’s transportation problems. The total length of 10 cableways will account for about 40 km while the estimated passenger traffic is expected to be 66 thousand people. The total investment in transport infrastructure will be at least 18 billion rubles.” According to Moscow Vice Mayor Efimov, the construction of cableways can be carried out at the expense of private investors in the framework of public-private partnership.

It is necessary to mention that a cableway has already been launched over the Moscow River on the Vorobyovy Gory, namely from the Luzhnetskaya Embankment to Kosygina Street. Another cableway will soon be built over the Khimki reservoir, specifically between Skhodnenskaya and Rechnoy Vokzal metro stations. It is stated that this section of the cableway has drawn the highest attention of the investors.

Moscow authorities are also planning to build a cableway from Alma-Atinskaya metro station to the MEGA Belaya Dacha mall. Another cableway will appear in Sokolniki and will connect the area with the VDNKh area and the Botanical Garden. The third cableway is planned to connect Lipetskaya Street and the Vegas shopping center. The purpose of this road is to reduce travel time for residents of Eastern Biryulyovo, as well as to create an additional link with the Vegas shopping center and the settlement of “Sovkhoz imeny Lenina”.

In addition, the construction of the cableway between Mosrentgen and the MEGA Teply Stan mall is planned for the connection of the Otkritie Arena stadium, Strogino and the Serebryanny Bor recreational zone.

As regards the new routes, the cableway may appear on the built-up area of the Khrunichev State Space Research and Production Center, between Paveletskaya Embankment and Avtozavodskaya metro station, as well as between Bitsevsky Park and Akademika Yangelya street to connect Yasenevo and Chertanovo Yuzhnoye areas. Another road will follow the route from the Kievsky Railway Station to Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment via Hotel Ukraine.

By the way, it is planned that it will be possible to pay for the fare on the cableways with the “Troika” card. Regular travel tickets at the same price as in the metro will also be applicable.

According to Deputy Mayor of the capital on economic policy and property and land relations Vladimir Efimov, at present moment the projects of potential cableways are being worked out in detail in terms of the possibility of placing them in the city. Vladimir Efimov added that all the core decisions regarding the projects of the cableways would be published in a period of a month or of one month and a half.
