The holiday season is right ahead of us. There’s a lot of cooking, cleaning and spending time with your family and friends ahead.
But, is your house ready for all those visitors? Is it clean enough? Chances are that you don’t clean your house as neatly and carefully on regular days. It is hard to balance the super-business of the season with the need to clean the house.
However, experts at Onyx Cleaning Services of Albany share some of their tips for quick, thorough and easy home cleaning which comes from their experience.
Don’t Waste Time
Here’s the thing, cleaning will take up some time, there’s no way around it. However, you can decide how much time you will devote to cleaning every day.
If you procrastinate and don’t take the time to clean every day, you will end up with the same amount of work and only one or two days to do it.
So, what you want to do instead, is create a list of sorts. All of the tasks that need to be done need to be listed and you should divide them into days and times when you have the time to do them.
Think of Your Guests
When you are cleaning for your guests during the holidays, it is very different than regular cleaning you do on any other day.
First of all, you need to think about your guests’ things, like coats and shoes. Do you have enough room to store all of those? If not, you will need to do some reorganizing. Perhaps you will have to move things from your hallway to make room for shoes, or clear one section of your closet to accommodate all those thick fall/winter coats that are coming your way.
Bathrooms Are Next
Whether you like it or not, people will judge your bathroom, particularly how clean it is. If you care what people think about your home, you will need to put in some effort into keeping it clean.
However, just as we mentioned the first entry, you don’t have to do everything at once. Instead, take time each day to clean it piece by piece.
The Kitchen
If you are planning to cook and have dinner with your friends and family, you will need to bring your kitchen up to a certain code.
There are some things which you may not initially think that need to be cleaned but can really make a difference. For instance, you may not notice the smell of your trash can, but if you haven’t cleaned it recently, now might be a good time.
Similarly, clean the grime off the kitchen cabinets. This grime usually builds up from cooking and you may not notice it at first, but others might. And in the end, you will end up with a much cleaner kitchen.
The Rest of the House
With all of the priority areas cleaned, it is time to clean the rest of your home. Start with the areas where you expect to have the guests around.
Your living room is probably the central room, so make sure that you clean it as thoroughly as possible. For instance, don’t forget to dust all of the surfaces. Albany cleaning services recommend that you use a microfiber cloth to clean sensitive surfaces because they don’t damage the surfaces and doesn’t require any cleaning agent.
One thing people don’t remember to clean or remember when it is too late is cleaning the windows. Cleaning your windows is fairly simple, and it doesn’t take too much time. However, the effect of it can be dramatic and transformative.
