Being in a car accident can be quite an overwhelming experience. After you recover from the whole thing, the first thing that you will want to take care of is your car. However, taking your car to the auto body shop right away will not be a wise decision. You should do some research before going to anyone because there are some important things that you should be aware of regarding auto bodies. If you have some knowledge about the topic, you will know exactly what to expect, and ask the right questions.
1. Is there a warranty that they are offering?
Most auto repair shops usually provide a warranty with their repairs. You should ask the company about it, such as how long is the duration of the warranty and what are the things that are being covered in it.
2. Will they be able to provide you a rental in the meanwhile?
Your car will take a couple of days for you to be able to drive it again. In the meanwhile, you will be needing a car to get around otherwise it can be highly inconvenient. Most of the time, auto repair shops offer some type of a rental service or they could provide you with loaner vehicles. If this is a requirement for you, you should definitely make sure prior to signing an agreement, otherwise you can go check out a different repair shop.
3. How many days will the repair be done in?
This will usually depend on how much your car has been affected. Some companies will take longer than the other, but usually it will take a day or two longer than they say. However, if time is an important decision making factor for you, you should let the company know.
4. Where will your car be when it’s with the company?
You should be well aware of where your car is going to be when you hand it over to the auto body shop. Usually, they have garages to keep the vehicles in, but sometimes they don’t. Moreover, you should make sure if the shop is is covered by insurance in case of any burglaries or fire damage.
5. What will the paint job be like?
If your car has a lot of scrapes and scratches, it will require a fresh paint job. There have been incidents when the auto body shop is sloppy with their work, and the paint does not match the rest of the body. Make sure the company use the right shade so that you don’t waste your time and money.
6. When will you be able to wash your car?
Majority of the time, your car will come back to you in a clean condition. However, you may want to ask just in case if they want you to wait a couple of days before you give your car a fresh wash.
