It’s that time of year again, time to round up the best tech gadgets of 2017. These are the items that have seen the highest demand this year, and have set the stage for what’s to be expected in the new year.
4K Ultra HD TV
This is the year that many people will take the plunge and go all-in on a 4K Ultra HD TV. The price has finally come down enough for the majority of television owners to justify the upgrade, and with more 4K programming coming out it’s set to be the replacement for standard HDTV and has been an big ecommerce boost all year.
Nintendo Switch
Nintendo says this is going to be a record-breaking year for them in terms of Nintendo Switch sales, but it’s unclear how reliable a source they are. What’s certain is that it’s been hard to find a Switch at local shops, and even online people have been paying a premium to make sure it will be under the tree.
The Latest Smartwatch
Apple users will want the new Apple Watch 3, and Android Wear users will want to upgrade to the 2.0 if they have a first generation model. Android Wear 3 is set to come out soon, but not in time to make the cut for 2017. As these smartwatches get smarter they’re able to make their own calls, even without having a smartphone nearby.
Samsung Chromebook Plus
Chromebooks have set the stage as a low-cost way to get a laptop and the new Chromebook Plus from Samsung is looking to shake things up a bit. It offers a flippable screen as well as the ability to write on the screen with a stylus. This could be a real game-changer because the price point is just over $400 which is a bargain compared to similar style laptops.
PS4 Pro or XBox One X
Depending on which camp you’re in you’ll either want a PS4 Pro or an Xbox One X. PlayStation users will want to upgrade to the latest version, and fans of the Xbox will want to do the same. Featuring beefed up specs and new games these systems have been given an upgrade, it’s just a matter of deciding if it’s worth the extra expense.
Google Wifi
If you’re looking for a top-of-the-line solution to your weak Wifi problem you should look at Google Wifi. You strategically place extra units so that no matter where you go in your home you’ll have a very strong connection.
Another great feature of Google WiFi is that you can limit the amount of time a person can use wifi-based on their device. This is an awesome feature for parents who are looking for a ways to get their kids to turn off their technology more often.
3D Printer
3D printers keep getting more and more complex, with the ability to make new items that are useful. The cost is also coming down, and more people are getting into it as a hobby or money making endeavor. It will be interesting to see what new features the models of 2018 and beyond will have.
Wireless Earbuds
Wireless earbuds are definitely going to be the wave of the future, and this year they were one of the hottest items on everyone’s list. They are small and light and give you the ability to make calls and listen to your music without the wires. Google came out with their version called Pixel Buds that can translate languages in your ear as they are spoken.
The Latest Smartphone
Every year smartphone manufacturers come out with the latest and greatest, and this year was no different. Apple came through in a big way with the iPhone X, as well as the iPhone 8. Google came out with their newest offering, the Pixel 2, and of course Samsung was right there with them with their Galaxy S8.
As these new phones come out, their operating systems get a boost too. This basically forces people to get a new phone because their old phone will eventually not be able to support the latest version of the software. This is why you’ll always see the latest smartphone topping the list of tech gadgets each year.
Video Doorbell
Video doorbells let you see who’s at your door, even when you’re not home. They’re a fantastic upgrade to your current doorbell, and have actually been out for a few years now. Ring has established themselves as the market leader, and provides an HD picture with high quality sound so you can really tell who’s there, and communicate with them remotely.
