5 Slovakia Hot Springs That Will Relax and Rejuvenate You

Slovakia is much more than just the charming town of Bratislava and the breathtaking High Tatras Mountains. The country itself boasts over 120 thermal springs, each with its own unique healing properties, making it one of the top hot spring destinations in Europe, if not the world. Here are five of our favorite Slovakia hot springs that are worth visiting when you’re in the country exploring other facets of its culture and natural resources.

1) Health Spa at Solisko

Solisko is one of the most popular health resorts in Slovakia with a long tradition in providing relief to those who suffer from rheumatism, arthritis, nervous system disorders or other chronic diseases. The resort has been visited by notable people such as Emilia Platerová, František Ladislav Čelakovský and Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk. Solisko offers wide range of therapy treatments, relaxation procedures, water cures and mud baths.
The original spa house was built at the end of the 19th century. Today it offers hydrotherapy in 12 pools with different water temperatures from 25 to 38 degrees Celsius.

2) Furdek – Plavecky Raj

The Furdek hot springs are located in the western part of the country. The water is known for its healing properties, which is why people have been coming to this spot for over 600 years. The open-air baths are surrounded by a forest on one side and a beautiful garden on the other. It is said that anyone who visits this place will be healthy and happy again.
The Štrbské Pleso hot springs are located in south central Slovakia. This area has some of the cleanest air in all of Europe, which is why it’s believed to help those with respiratory illnesses like asthma or bronchitis as well as allergies or skin diseases.

3) Baraniecki Raj

In a country with several mountain ranges, one of the most outstanding is the High Tatras. Located on the border between Poland and Slovakia, this mountain range is composed of four parts: Western Tatras, Central Tatras, Eastern Tatras, and Belianske Tatras. It has an altitude from 890 meters in its lowest point to 2228 meters on its highest peak. This is the ideal destination for those who want to feel at peace in nature or for those who want to improve their health by going through detox treatments. One of the most popular hot springs in this area is Baraniecki Raj (or Rajské lúky). This area includes three separate pools which are separated by cascades of water.

4) Jazierka Bardejovská

This natural hot spring is one of the most popular in the country. On its 3.2 acre site, you can find a bathhouse with several pools, including a children’s pool. The water here is rich with minerals like magnesium, calcium, sodium chloride and potassium. This helps to relieve stress, relax muscles and improve sleep quality.
If you’re in the mood for some relaxation but don’t want to head too far from home or work then try this Slovakian hot spring just 30 minutes outside of Prague! There are plenty of hotels nearby if you want to make a weekend out of it. It’s also an excellent spot for beginners who want to try something new without being overwhelmed by crowds.

5) Tatranske Uzdy

Tatranske Uzdy is one of the most popular natural spa resorts in Slovakia. The healing water here is rich with minerals that provide a range of therapeutic benefits to those who soak in it. One of the most distinctive features of Tatranske Uzdy is its labyrinth – a circular bath filled with warm mineral water, which has been known to heal those suffering from chronic pain.
Tatranske Uzdy is open throughout the year (except for Mondays) and offers additional treatments such as massage or reflexology. Visitors can also enjoy a sauna, steam bath, whirlpool, or relaxation area after their visit to the baths.
