There are 2 types of certification options:
- Entry level certification: This type is for those students who look for a career change after high schooling or even early college students can opt for this as an initial step to their interest in cyber studies. In this course, they get to study about the basic and foundation principles, operating systems, latest tools and technologies, base level network and software securities, threats and vulnerabilities, etc. To get certified you should pass a single exam which cost about $100.
Some of the certification boards are; Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) Security Fundamentals, ISACA CSX Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate and CompTIA Security+.
- Intermediate and extreme level certification: This certification will expose you as a well experienced and well-knowledged candidate in this security issues. You will get solid information about the techniques for defence in depth, risk management, recovery of the disastrous situation, business continuing, different security policies, etc. The exam can be passed only if the candidate has the best problem-solving capability and hands-on experience through training or job experience.
Some of the certification boards are; GIAC Information Security Fundamentals (GISF) and (ISC) 2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP).
This certification can be used for various IT security jobs. Most of the process of certification will contain a training section and an exam to test your credibility.
It is your responsibility to get updated according to the changing world and renew your certificate periodically (mostly every 3 to 4 years) so that you can keep up with the technologies. Renewing certificate will include passing the latest exam.
