Adidas has taken one-step further to realize the vision by building a partnership with Parley, an organization that works to combat the ocean pollution. The partnership between the sportswear manufacturer and Parley has been around, but no information is yet available when Adidas 3D-Printed Shoe will makes it way to the customer.

Adidas 3D-Printed Shoe: Care for the Environment

Adidas introduced the project, called Futurecraft 3D, last month as a part of its eco-friendly footwear project. Yes, the midsole is made from recycled polyester and gillnets, a kind of nets used to catch fish. Moreover, the upper part of the shoe is made from ocean plastic, which has become a concerning issue throughout the world.

The sportswear giant is visioning to become a pioneer in eco-friendly and customizable sportswear products by tailoring the shoe design with the cushioning needs of the customer. This is made possible with 3D-printing technology.

Imagine walking into Adidas store, having your foot scanned, picking you preferred shoe style, and bringing home a pair of shoes that fit your feet perfectly. Despite the controversies that the technology will open an new way for counterfeiting practice in manufacturing process, Adidas and Parley said that Futurecraft 3D will become real sometime in the future.
